Agree with Marqueese - the diameter is significant. What would happen if your hat had larger holes? Would it be as stable?

Yes, I did some Kirigami a long time ago. One of my favorite things to create was a senbazuru, or multiple cranes out of one single piece of paper.

We could use origami to stop world hunger. You could make things out of origami and sell them for $1 (depending on how big or complex) and then donate it to your local charity,church,etc.
